SCHOLARSHIPS 2023/2024

Eligibility: All students who are part of the ADELSA body (major and specialization, EXCEPT minors) regardless of the level. Students can be full-time or part-time.

How to apply? Once you know what you need for the scholarship you want to apply for, and all the required documents (PDF) are in your possession, send us an email to adelsa.uni@artsuottawa.ca. In the subject line, indicate for which scholarship you apply. In the email, include your full name and student number. ATTENTION, all documents you submit to us must contain NO data identification, in order to maintain anonymity when awarding scholarships.

Specifications per scholarship:

Golden Wug Award (1x1000$) and Silver Wug Award (3x500$) These scholarships are awarded according to a point system based on the text you will submit. Ensure the quality of format as well as language. The text should not exceed 3 pages, including references. Please include your CGPA to be eligible to enter the Golden Wug Award. BE CAREFUL, if you only submit a text, without including your CGPA, you will not be able to be eligible for the Golden Scholarship, even if you have all the required points. Writing topics are as follow:

  1. Convince us that your favorite linguistics subfield is the best one.

  2. What is a topic of research you would be interested in pursuing/how would you change for the better an existing research?

  3. How did your linguistics role model (theorist, researcher…) change the field of linguistics?

Lightning Wug Award (2x $250) This scholarship is to encourage and reward creativity. You can compose a song, write a joke, make a video... the important thing is that the main theme of what you submit is related to linguistics. If it is a text, it must not exceed 500 words, or, in the case of a video, no more than 3 minutes. If you have a file other than PDF, please send us an email so we can discuss it. The deadline to send us your application (all scholarships included) is March 4. Good luck to everyone!
